Mantic Games releasing new fantasy rules in October

I've felt that WFB suffers from the legacies of a 25-year old set of design principles, but Mantic Games is bringing out a new fantasy mass battles game written by Alessio Cavatore (IMO, one of the best designers who ever worked for GW). This might be a nice alternative to WFB, especially since it seems like many of the figures will be cross-compatible.

Is there a distributor for Mantic in Canada? I'm thinking I might like to pick up some of their stuff...

Yes, we have a distributor for Mantic. I've brought some of their elves in before, and I wasn't incredibly impressed with the sculpts, but they seem to have cleaned up a bit. Once their ruleset is released, I'm sure we'll grab some stuff in to see how it works.

You should stop in the store for a game of 8th edition sometime Ddogwood. It's a completely different game nowadays.

I don't like the style of the elves, others have said they are not very detailed but that could just be their style.
Im on the fence about the dwarves, so far my favorite dwarf models are done by reaper.
The undead are nice, the skeletons and warmachine really remind me of undead bretonnian and well the 2 armies I have are VC and Bretonnian.
The ghouls are nice looking as well, they look like feral humans while GW's don't really look human anymore.
The zombies are being released soon and 50 models for $40 is 2.5x as many as you get from GW for the same price.

I think mantic deserves keeping an eye on, does anyone have any experience with their rules?

I don't believe they have any rules out right now. They've been a minis company up to this point and the new game coming in October is their first step into the game side.
