    New game!

Cheers! A new game to spend money on. Everything I have seen leads me to believe this will be a very cool game. I encourage everyone to check them out at http://www.infinitythegame.com/ .

    Re: New game!

I've been reading up on the game - it's interesting that the rules suggest that every piece of terrain should have another piece of terrain within 4". According to most of the people who've played Infinity, you need a table that's pretty densely packed with terrain for the game to work well.

It sounds very cool, maybe I'll have to dig out my sets of Necromunda terrain...

    Re: New game!

I've heard that it benefits from a lot of terrain as well. It kind of makes sense, too, considering that most of the figures in the game are predominantly shooters.

I've been reading through the quickstart rules and one thing that really jumped out to me as very interesting was the ARO system (I can't remember off the top of my head what that actually stood for). Basically when your opponent gives one of his guys an order, all of your troops that can see that guy get an ARO that lets them respond with an action that occurs simultaneously. So if your troops are getting shot at they can return fire or dive for cover or dance like a monkey or whatever. It's also really cool since it means that both players always have things to do, instead of just watching the other guy do stuff.

Corey: I dance like a monkey.

I think it stands for "Automatic Reaction Order". I've heard some people complain that the AROs and the d20 base make the game too random, because firefights often come down to luck. I've heard other people say that they like this, because avoiding firefights is more realistic.

Yeah, I think that's what it stands for. Sounds right, anyway. I'd have to actually try it out to give an informed opinion of how it works, but on paper it looks like a lot of fun.

I like the way the nomads look but having just started AT-43 I don't think I will be picking any up.

How much stuff do you need to play?
Hrothgar's Might, Judas Bloodspire - Mordhiem
    Chaos Night Lords - BFG/40k
    Bretonnian, Vampire Counts - WHFB
    M.Ind UNA - AT-43

    Re: New game!

300 points is apparently the "standard" game. The starter boxes come with 6 minis, and are apparently ~115 to ~140 points depending on what options you take. Most games are between 10 and 20 minis.
