    New players...

Three players, new to AT-43 (basic rules played) but otherwise seasoned gamers, are looking forward to joining the league, but currently lack the rulebook. We are looking for some seasoned players to show us the ropes and allow us to get up to speed with the rest of the league's participants, as well as making new friends. One player is tackling the Karmans while a father/son team wish to master the Therians.

If anyone is interested, I will keep tabs on the forum and hopefully we can set up a game or two.

Just set up a time to play, ask online here, and someone may be available to show you how to play.

    Re: New players...

Welcome to the World of AT-43, I look forward to having a friendly game.

We currently don't have a set day to play or campaign running, but there are plenty of us with Armies.

I am usually available on Wednesday 6pm, Friday 5PM and Saturday 1PM.

Our Wednesdays are currently being used to play mini campaigns for different sci-fi miniature games each lasting about 4 weeks. After Infinity I think we plan on picking one to have a longer campaign.

    Re: New players...

Thanks. We'll be popping down Wednesday to pick up more minis and hopefully a rulebook, if big T has one.

Probably could set up a game for late August on a Wednesday. One of the players could meet in the afternoon, but the others are handcuffed to around after suppertime (after 5pm ish,) weekdays and can play Saturdays. September looks like it might have to be Thursdays or Wednesdays in the evening till around 7. I also play Battletech at the store on Fridays, but I am willing to drop a game to play.

Let me know when you all are available or if this might work.

    Cool new pplSmile [:)]

Come september we will definitely have to set up a regular gaming day for AT-43. Thursdays wld probly be the most ideal evenin for me but I am pretty much open to anything.... depends on what da T-dawg says. We did try to have a league going saturday afternoons under Snofox but it died. Too many ppl, including me, tend to like weekends as family time.

Sorry to all. Couldn't make it Wednesday. My little one came home from daycare sick. We'll have to meet up another time.

    Re: New players...

Just out of curiosity, when you players form armies, do you use the platoon patterns listed in the books or do you just pick a points limit and build whatever fits?

    Re: New players...

we've always used platoon patterns. I think they are there as a balance mechanism.

If your just starting up and learning the rules then just picking points and having a game can be good.

    Re: New players...

Well, the three of us put together a smashup between the Karmans, Therians, and an UNA force made up of the minis from two Op. Damacles starter sets that fit within the platoon requirements for the Libra (I think), Warrior, and M.Ind with a points limit of 1400. What a fight. Even though the start was roughly triangular, the UNA was still kind of pinched inbetween the Karmans and the Therians.

This little mock battle taught us alot. (I picked up a book online, but still intend to buy another from the store. I always like having two rulebooks handy.) The only thing that caught us off guard was when I shot the propulsion off the Karman Easy Trike while he was at full altitude. He had one Frame point left, so we figured he crashed and died.

Anyway. Looking forward to playing others now. I'll talk with my freind and see when he is up to playing.

    Re: New players...

Karman trikes don't crash...they are way too sopher...sophit...sop...smart for thatStick out tongue [:P] It just becomes immobilized and stuck there until it can be repaired or loses it's frame points. However...if you shoot it again and hit the propulsion then it automatically goes to the frame.

    Re: New players...

Any excess damage goes to the frame as well. So if you hit and damage a weapon for 3 points of damage and the weapon only has 2 hit points the 3rd point of damage goes to the frame, even if you have other weapons.

This is on a per shot basis so for instance you have 2 shots that deal 2 damage and they both hit a weapon system then the first weapon system is destroyed from the first shot, the second weapon system is destroyed from the second shot.

If they dealt 3 damage each the first shot would deal 2 to a weapon 1 to the frame, second shot 2 to the a weapon and 1 to the frame.

    hope this makes sense
