    Warmachine Books

Hello people who know how this game works!

So I have a copy of Prime:Remix from last Christmas.  As far as I can tell, PP releases books as expansions to the game, with updates to all factions, instead of GW style Army Books?  I can see how that's better in a lot of ways, but I'm kinda dubious of an up front investment in 4 or 5 $25 books to get the entire rules for an army.  If I get the 'Card Set' for a faction, does it include *ALL* of their rules, or is it just stats?

    Thanks!

    Re: Warmachine Books

They include model rules you only need remix for the main rules. the other books are fluff, the cards contain everything you'll need.

    Re: Warmachine Books

Prime Remix is all you need. When you buy the minis all their stats and special rules are on the cards. You don't need the other books unless you really want them for the fluff (story) or scenarios. Prime Remix has the updated core rules and more minis than the first Prime had. The other books don't have the core rules, just profiles of the minis they released in each set or expansion. The pirate book is only useful if you plan on playing pirates, I don't have that one myself. I have all the other books and I only ever refer to Prime Remix on a regular basis. I usually bring it with me when  I play.

If you are playing hordes you will want Primal. Evolution is optional. There are 2 pages with new rules covering the new models with those abilities and of course the new minis. But as I said, the card that comes with the mini has all the stats and rules you need for that mini.

You can get the Faction decks for Warmachine, they havn't come out with them for Hordes yet but they will have them soon. Also you might want to look on the privateer press website for the eratta that didn't make it into the books.

If you have any questions or want to play a game I will be at Red Claw tonight and tomorrow or just post here.

All of the rules that you need are on the cards. The books simply explain the effects a lot better, however between the card deck & the online FAQ, you're set.

Prime and prime remix have the same models. Which faction are you interested in? I can give you some background and decent model selection.

I was planning to try out Cryx entirely because I like the models best.  I don't actually have any models at the moment, just kind of curious about the game.  I was thinking about grabbing the BattleBox, but the general consensus on the PP forum was that the SlayerJack in it is kind of 'meh' and quickly falls into disuse.

    Re: Warmachine Books

The slayer and the defiler are not the greatest but you'll want the caster denegra is one of the best, and you can get her seperate as well as deathrippers.

caster wise all 3 prime remix casters are good to start with

bone jacks: stick with deathrippers and night wretches, Arc nodes are a must have with cryx.

heavy's: Death jack is all you need but the harrower is also good.

units: bane knights, bile thralls, mechanithralls with brute thrall attachment are a good base.

solo's: tartarus, pistol wraiths, bloat thralls, and the skarlock is a must have.

what models do you like the looks of the most?

I've got some Cryx that I'm interested in dumping, Affekonig (personal collection). I could give you "special price" ~insert retarded grin here~

Seriously though, if you're looking for models, I can send you a list of what I've got.

I definitely want to do a force with a more 'ghostly' feel to it first.  Dengrha/Asphyxious/Witch Coven, Bane Knights/Thralls, Pistol Wraiths, Withershadow Combine, BlackBane's Ghost Raiders etc.

epic Skarre is definitely on the must buy model list, but I don't want to start out with a caster that requires 750 pts!

Harrower is far and away my favorite Jack, but my dear kind brother has contributed a DeathJack he had sitting on the shelf to my cause as well =)

This is what I was thinking to start with for 500pts:
    Warwitch Deneghra
    Slayer
    Deathripper
    Deathripper
    Nightwretch
    Bane Knights (6/10)
    Bane Knights (6/10)
    Skarlock
    Bloat Thrall

    Re: Warmachine Books

I'd suggest tarterus for curse and beckon and a min unit of bile thralls instead of 2 min bane knights get full banes and the slayer is iffy at 500 and yes what's warmachine without the machines but denny works best with arc nodes.

    Re: Warmachine Books

This came in at 498, which means it could also be played with Asphyxious at 500.  Not sure how I feel about the Bile Thralls.  I'll have to see the models in person.

    Warwitch Deneghra
    Deathripper
    Deathripper
    Nightwretch
    Nightwretch
    Bane Knights (8/10)
    Bane Lord Tartarus
    Bile Thralls (8/10)
    Pistol Wraith
    Pistol Wraith

Whoops, hmm, doesn't have a Skarlock, will have to think about it some more!

Bile thralls.......o how i loathe them.....it's not so much the exploding that hurts it's the fact that all models hit get corrossion.....auti-hits if it doesn't expire....had 1 lonely little bile thrall wipe out my entire high shield unit in one puke.
Undisputed master of the 2nd turn massacre...wait a min...is this a good thing?

So are you going to come out and play tomorrow? If you don't have the models you want I'm sure someone will lend them to you for a game or 2.
