Standing atop a rocky crag overlooking the Sea of Swords, the massive citadel of Candlekeep has endured the elements for centuries and defied the degredations of time. Candlekeep has the largest repository of written lore in Faerun, including the collected prophecies of an ancient sage named Alaundo the Seer. However, not all knoweldge preserved in Candlekeep is of historical importance. The library holds thousands upon thousands of lost recipes, old songs, collections of folklore, and journals written by folks whose time has long passed. No better place in the Realms exists for those with a love for or a need of knowledge.
You have come to Candlekeep seeking some knowledge unavailable to you elsewhere. Perhaps you have joined the ranks of the Avowed, priests who work at Candlekeep as scribes, librarians, and protectors. Perhaps you are an independent follower of Deneir, the god of writing, and you have come to Candlekeep to expand your own understanding and collection. Perhaps you are an outsider entirely, searching for answers to personal or cosmic questions. No matter the reason, all are welcome at Candlekeep--provided you bring the required entrance fee, and that you follow the rules.
This campaign will follow your stay at Candlekeep, and the mysteries that rise unbidden, like bubbles on a seemingly placid pond. Characters who revere written works, history, magic, and secrets, will fit in well with this campaign; characters who enjoy smashing, burning, or creating chaos will find their desires stamped down in favour of the status quo. All characters are welcome, but if you are having difficulty figuring out where you might fit in, reach out to DM Kit to discuss backstory!
Building Your Character:
Character level is variable depending on the stage of the campaign; if you are a returning or new player, reach out to the DM to confirm the level your PC should be.
Players MUST build their characters via Point Buy or Standard Array. Players MUST take average health upon level-up.
Players may use any character options that appear in the following sources:

Unearthed Arcana and Homebrew will not be used.
Players can also select a bonus feat at 1st level if their background does not provide one from either: Tough, Skilled, Magic Initiate, Mobile, Warcaster or Sentinel.

This game will run every Tuesday evening from 6-9PM, until completion. I am aiming for this campaign to end around level 16.
MEET THE DM: Hi! I'm DM Kit. I've recently returned to the Claw, and I'm looking forward to running my second campaign through the store. I've been running D&D games since the advent of 5th edition, but I've been running other tabletop RPGs since I was in high school. I play a rule-of-cool style game, with flexible rules and a primary interest in cooperative storytelling.
